A twist of events Sniper groaned. It had been quite some time since he had literally stumbled into a crime. So maybe it wasn't the smartest thing for him to be hopping from rooftop to rooftop to patrol the city. And maybe it wasn't smart that he was watching the horizon closer than he was watching his footsteps. But who would have a roof made of glass? Really? That was just the dumbest architectural idea. Ever.
It probabaly wouldn't have been so bad if he had only fallen. He was durable. That was an advantage of getting beat around a lot. A lot.So a few cuts and bruises would have been okay. But this wasn't the case.
Not only had he fallen through a glass roof into a warehouse, he had fallen through a glass roof into a warehouse where a powerful group of drug-manufacturing gang members called home. And, it being in the middle of the night, they were busy working. Just his luck. DI probably would have kicked him for making such a stupid mistake.
Stranger LoveI am not the sunlit wing-print
splayed out on the bedroom wall.
I am not the dark mass forming
in a corner of an airless hall.
I am not the viscous vengeance
where you sink your spinning wheels.
I am not the leaky bucket
hung up on your wishing well.
You are not my soul mate missing
wandering a winter's night.
You are not the sound of angels
singing by a candle's light.
You are not the rasp of fingers
fumbling with a hasp of steel.
You are not the tattered towel
soaking up the things I feel.
I am the oblivious child,
dancing where the wildflowers are.
You are my unwitting captive
lighting up a jelly jar.
